On February 23, 2026, the Internet Society U.S. Washington DC Chapter (ISOC-DC) hosted a webinar ‘Book Talk with authors Aram Sinnreich and Jesse Gilbert, in Conversation With Paul “DJ Spooky” Miller‘.
‘The Secret Life Of Data‘ explores the many unpredictable, and often surprising, ways in which data surveillance, AI, and the constant presence of algorithms impact our culture and society in the age of global networks. No matter what form data takes, and what purpose we think it’s being used for, it will always have a secret life beyond what might be reasonably imagined, with profound implications for every aspect of our lives.
Co-authors Aram Sinnreich, professor, and musician, currently serving as Graduate Director at American University School of Communication, and Jesse Gilbert, an academic who is also transdisciplinary artist, were joined by recording star Paul D. Miller aka DJ Spooky to explore this basic premise and its implications.
