Internet Society Trivandrum Chapter in association with ICFOSS organized a round-table discussion on ‘Root Zone Label Generation Rules for Malayalam Script’ on 3rd November 2018. The Neo-Brahmi Script Generation Panel (NBGP) seated by ICANN proposed a Root Zone Label Generation Rules (LGR) for Malayalam script and were accepting public comments for the same. The main aim of the event was to create an awareness, bring it to the attention of various related stakeholders involved and come up with a comment which can be submitted.
The event had representation from ICANN Org, NBGP Panel who drafted the rules, linguists, academicians, technologists, journalists, end-users etc. Satish Babu (Chair, APRALO, ICANN) representing the end-users group moderated the session. The event was presided by R Srinivasan (Chair, ISOC Trivandrum Chapter) and Dr Rajeev (ICFOSS) concluded the event with the future steps and closing remarks.
