The Internet Society Nigeria Chapter successfully celebrated Safer Internet Day (SID) 2026 across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and all 36 States of Nigeria, reaching thousands of participants nationwide.
In the course of the celebration, we trained and sensitized not less than 2,500 pupils, students, teachers, parents, and persons with disabilities through 37 impactful activities conducted in secondary schools, tertiary institutions, youth groups, women groups, and disability communities.
This year’s activities were carried out under the global theme:
“Smart Tech, Safe Choices – Exploring the Safe and Responsible Use of AI”
and our mission-related focus on Online Trust and Safety, in line with the Internet Society’s 2026 mission-related activities.
Key Highlights
Through sensitization sessions, workshops, and interactive engagements, participants were educated on:
- Safe online practices
- Cyber hygiene and digital security
- Privacy and data protection
- Responsible digital citizenship
- Ethical and secure use of emerging technologies, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI)
These activities strongly align with our 2030 strategic goal of ensuring that people everywhere have a safe, secure, and inclusive Internet experience.
