Half-Year Report (January – June 2025)

Between January and June 2025, the Internet Society Nigeria Chapter (ISOC NG) recorded remarkable progress in promoting an open, globally connected, secure, and trustworthy Internet across Nigeria. Through collaborative programs, workshops, and advocacy engagements, the Chapter advanced its mission of digital inclusion, safer internet use, and gender empowerment in technology.


1️⃣ January 2025 – Data Privacy Day

Event: Data Privacy Day 2025
Date: January 28, 2025
Focus: Online privacy and data protection awareness with the theme “Take Control of Your Data”.
Location: Online Webinar via Zoom


2️⃣ February 2025 – Safer Internet Day (SID 2025)

In partnership with schools, NGOs, and ministries across Nigeria, ISOC NG celebrated Africa Safer Internet Day with simultaneous events nationwide, raising awareness on digital safety, cyber responsibility, and responsible online behavior.

Collectively, over 1,500 participants (students, teachers, and young professionals) were reached.


3️⃣ March 2025 – Women and Digital Inclusion

Event: International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025
Date: March 11, 2025
Location: Jos, Plateau State
Description: In collaboration with the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) Plateau State Chapter, the Chapter celebrated women in ICT, focusing on mentorship and empowerment.


4️⃣ April 2025 – Girls in ICT Day Nationwide Celebrations

In alignment with ITU’s global “Girls in ICT Day”, ISOC NG organized coordinated events across 15+ states including Sokoto, Kano, Borno, Lagos, Oyo, Ondo, and others.
Each event inspired young girls to explore STEM careers and digital innovation.

These events collectively reached over 2,000 young girls, promoting inclusion and digital empowerment.


5️⃣ May 2025 – Regional and International Engagements

  • Workshop: Internet and Data Center Connectivity – Lagos
    Focused on broadband access and data center collaboration.

    The Chapter participated and contributed to discussions on digital policies and Internet governance.

    ISOC NG shared lessons from NSIG and capacity-building initiatives.

Conclusion

From January to June 2025, ISOC Nigeria Chapter successfully conducted 30+ impactful activities, reaching over 5,000 participants across all six geopolitical zones.
