We are proud to announce a significant milestone in the stewardship of the internet’s infrastructure, as the Council of the country code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) approved ISOC-IL as the ccTLD manager of Israel’s new IDN .ישראל at its 199th meeting, held on Thursday, 26 October 2023. This decision underscores the enduring partnership and mutual trust between ISOC-IL and ICANN, and it paves the way for future collaborative endeavors.
The ccNSO is the policy development body for a narrow range of global issues regarding country-code top level domains (ccTLDs) within ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). It serves as a forum for information exchange between ccTLD-managing organizations across the world.
ISOC-IL has been a member of the ccNSO since the council’s inception in 2003, as the manager of the .IL ccTLD. We are now delighted to embrace the dual role of being both one of the longest-standing and newest members of the council, now as the manager of the ישראל. ccTLD.
As ISOC-IL assumes this new role, we acknowledge ICANN’s critical support and look forward to a continued partnership that will undoubtedly contribute to the stability and diversity of the internet’s Domain Name System.
