The 8th edition of the Youth Internet Governance Forum India (Youth IGF India) concluded on 18th September 2025 at the BITS Pilani K. K. Birla Goa Campus, bringing together over 120 in-person attendees and around 100 virtual participants in a hybrid format. The forum served as a dynamic platform for intergenerational dialogue on key issues shaping the digital future.
The event commenced with an inaugural address by Dr. Meenal Kaushik, Dean of BITS Goa, followed by keynotes from Shri P. K. Singh, Principal Advisor at TRAI, and Ms. Anja Gengo from the United Nations IGF. Sessions throughout the day explored pressing themes including AI governance, cybersecurity, internet resiliency, and digital inclusion.
Key highlights included a stakeholder roleplay on multilingual internet and content moderation, where participants developed and submitted policy recommendations. Lightning talks featured inspiring grassroots initiatives led by young leaders, and the Youth Policy Roundtable enabled transparent, solutions-driven discussions on youth participation in internet governance.
The forum was supported by the India School on Internet Governance and the Ministry of Electronics and IT, with sponsorship from NIXI, IGFSA, ICANN, APNIC, PIR, and DotUpTech. SFLC.in joined as the knowledge partner, while APIGA India served as the youth empowerment partner.
Youth IGF India will soon release its Annual Report, featuring key insights, policy outcomes, and highlights from its year-round efforts, offering a comprehensive view of how young people are shaping the future of internet governance.
