On 9 July 2026, GNKS Consult and the Marconi Society Internet Resilience Institute hosted ‘Operationalizing Digital Resilience: Implementing WSIS+20 and the Global Digital Compact Across Critical Infrastructure‘ at the WSIS Forum 2026 in Geneva.
The session explored how Internet resilience can help translate WSIS+20 (World Summit on the Information Society +20 Review) commitments and Global Digital Compact (GDC) objectives into practical implementation. Recent disruptions — cloud outages, power failures, supply-chain vulnerabilities, and cyber incidents — have shown that digital resilience is not solely a technical issue, depending instead on a complex ecosystem of networks, domain name systems, routing infrastructure, cloud services, energy systems, and governance arrangements. Building on the work of the Marconi Society Internet Resilience Institute, the session presented practical approaches including the Life of a Packet dependency-mapping initiative and the Business Resilience Guide, with attention to cross-sector cooperation, learning from incidents, stress-testing critical systems, and strengthening trust in digital services.
