The India School on Internet Governance (inSIG) 2024, the ninth edition of India’s flagship Internet governance capacity-building initiative, was held from 30 September to 3 October 2024 at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. The program was jointly hosted by the ISOC India Bengaluru Chapter and IIM Bangalore, bringing together fellows, experts, and stakeholders from across sectors. It followed a structured four-day format, including an orientation day and three days of intensive sessions focused on Internet governance, policy, and emerging technologies.
The event featured a diverse cohort of Indian and international fellows selected through a competitive process emphasizing stakeholder diversity, geography, and gender balance. Participants engaged in expert-led discussions, workshops, simulations, and collaborative sessions covering key areas such as the global Internet governance ecosystem, cybersecurity, DNS infrastructure, artificial intelligence governance, and digital policy frameworks. The multi-stakeholder nature of the program enabled meaningful dialogue between government, industry, civil society, academia, and the technical community.
inSIG 2024 was supported by all chapters of the Internet Society (ISOC) in India, with active contributions from multiple chapters including the ISOC India Delhi Chapter. The event strengthened India’s Internet governance ecosystem by building capacity, fostering collaboration, and preparing participants for engagement in global forums. It continues to play a critical role in developing a strong pipeline of professionals contributing to Internet policy and governance at both national and international levels.
