On Wednesday, 8 July 2026, at 13:00-14:00 ART (16:00-17:00 UTC), the Center for Studies in Freedom of Expression (CELE) at the University of Palermo, Buenos Aires, Argentina, together with the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), will host a webinar ‘Is Freedom of Expression Dead? Rethinking Free Speech in Times of Authoritarianism

The panel will address critical issues from the perspective of different stakeholders, such as security-based restrictions on freedom of expression, colluding interests between states and online platforms, the role of states in protecting and promoting freedom of expression in times of democratic backsliding, and the use of indirect means to weaken intermediary liability immunities.

The session will be conducted in English.
